Zeeland was born in a desolate cabin in Joshua Tree, California, where Rutger and Tom holed up after loading an old Jeep with gear and leaving the hectic streets of Los Angeles behind for a while. The views and a shared love of melancholic songs from the 00s pushed the two producers toward a mixture of dreamy, lo-fi-ish collages and raw-sounding drum machines. That same contrast carries into the vocals, which both of them take on.
